Kempenhaeghe diagnoses and treats people who suffer or possibly suffer from a complex form of epilepsy and/or serious sleep/wake disorders. Epilepsy and sleep/wake disorders may be associated with other diseases. Epilepsy and sleep/wake disorders are also known to lead to issues concerning living, working, learning and relationships. The knowledge of several specialists is required to diagnose and treat these complicated care needs. Medical specialists, behavioural scientists, social workers, paramedics and specialized nurses collaborate to develop an approach customized to the patient. This so-called multidisciplinary approach is essential in our view as an expertise centre. Additional to patient care, scientific research and knowledge transfer are core tasks of Kempenhaeghe as well. It is what we work at as the junction in numerous networks. |
