Focusing on the areas of health and well-being, we take an insight-driven and people-centric approach to everything we do, with simplicity as an overriding theme. We investigate potential growth areas and develop new technologies that improve the quality of people's lives. Our core competences that we use to do this are: Opportunity & trend spotting: We are constantly investigating what people?s future needs will be. We monitor technology trends and examine how we can turn them into profitable opportunities. We also conduct exploratory research into new and emerging areas. This includes carrying out 'deep dives', and identifying potential partners. We often collaborate with Philips Design and other partners and make use of their social-cultural and fore-sighting expertise. This allows us to create shared visions about what we expect will happen in the future. Technology research: Investigations into new and existing technologies for health & well-being - often in collaboration with external institutes or organizations - help bring many meaningful and people-focused innovations to the market (for an overview click here). It is also a valuable source of license income. Our activities have led to more than 130,000 patent and design rights, as well as many thousands of technical and scientific papers. Application research: Our application research enables us to explore what possible applications we could create based on the technologies we invented. We translate these ideas into working demonstrators, so that people can actually experience what our technology could mean to them. These prototypes then function as a start for further development and user studies. Experience research: We work closely with our partners to make sure our innovations are based on true customer insights. In order to ensure that what we develop makes sense and is easy to experience, we have an extensive program of experience research. Central to this is our ExperienceLab and i |
