The Research and Documentation Centre (WODC) can best be characterized as a knowledge centre in justice areas. The centre aims to make a professional contribution to the development and evaluation of justice policies. This contribution involves conducting research, providing information and giving advice. Trough these activities, the WODC plays a role in shaping professional and public opinion concerning justice issues. |

Het WODC is per 1 januari 1994 intern verzelfstandigd binnen het Ministerie van Justitie. De rapporten van het WODC worden, evenals het tijdschrift Justitiële verkenningen, in samenwerking met Boom Juridische Uitgevers (Bju) te Den Haag uitgegeven. |
