Mission CERES is a nation-wide research and PhD network for studies on resource dynamics, development and social transformation at global and local scales. The focus on resource dynamics is giving special emphasis on social diversity and resource conflicts in the context of so called globalization processes. At the core of CERES research are relations between agents, institutions and recourses, and the differential impact of (interventions) strategies on various groups. In the context of CERES research resources are multiplex 'capital values', e.g. ecological, environmental, social, cultural or symbolic, political, technological or knowledge. The problem orientation indicates a multidisciplinary and comparative approach, using a variety of paradigms and a multilevel methodology, ranging from case studies to global surveys.
