Mission The AISSR of the University of Amsterdam constitutes thematically focused research programmes, which have an anchor in one or more of the represented disciplines (Sociology, Geography and Planning, Development Studies, Political Science, and Anthropology). Across these programmatic groups, AISSR encourages multidisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the social sciences.
Addition Associated Institutions: Erasmus University, Utrecht University, Free University Amsterdam, Leyden university, AIAS, KITLV, IISG, ISS, IIAS, WISER, African Studies Center; Centre of Latin American Research and Documentation; Center of Environmental Science, Harvard University, CUNY. The AISSR offers a four-year programme to prepare qualified candidates for the Ph.D. degree in social sciences. The AISSR also serves as a national and international meeting point for coordination and stimulation of social science research by junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows and senior scholars.
