| Mission |
The scientific mission of ASCI is directed towards high quality research and education by stimulating cooperation between its participants. Research in ASCI is of an applied nature and is focused on the integration of parallel processing techniques with the processing of sensor data, image data and other media. With the emphasis on system development and integration of software and hardware, it directly addresses the needs in high-performance computing, and other computing intensive applications, such as simulations, multi-media, medical imaging, computer vision, industrial automation and CAD/CAM. The school organizes a graduate program for PhD-students and a research program covering all major subjects concerning parallel processing, real-time systems, distributed systems, performance analysis, image synthesis, sensor interpretation, pattern recognition and computer vision. |

In de onderzoekschool ASCI wordt deelgenomen door de Technische Universiteit Delft, de Universiteit van Amsterdam, de Vrije Universiteit, de Universiteit Leiden, de Universiteit Utrecht en de Universiteit Twente. De Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam en de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen participeren middels een associatie-overeenkomst. |
