The research school Beta is the largest research core in the Netherlands in the field of analysis, design, and control of operational processes within highly technically industrialised organisations in industry, distribution, and service. Beta develops and disseminates scientific knowledge to solve problems companies have. Beta uses a model-based quantitative approach in which mathematical, logistical, information engineering, economic, and socio-scientific knowledge is integrated and tuned to specific characteristics of users and high-tech organisations.
The Beta Research School for Operations Management and Logisitcs is a joint venture between the departments of 'Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences' and 'Mathematics and Computer Science' at the Eindhoven University of Technology, and the Center for Telematics and Information Technology at the University of Twente. Beta is accreditated by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1998.
