| Mission |
The immune system protects us from a myriad of pathogens. A malfunctioning immune system can therefore lead to all kinds of life-threatening infectious diseases. On the other hand, unwanted or exaggerated immune reactions may cause autoimmune diseases and allergies. AMC research on the theme of immunology and infectious diseases focuses both on pathogens and on protective and harmful immune reactions. Moreover, a longstanding collaboration, research on human blood cells is being carried out with the Landsteiner Laboratory at Sanquin Research. |
