Mission The graduate school Biomedical Image Sciences (ImagO) is a graduate school of the University Utrecht and the University Medical Center Utrecht, in which expertise from different disciplines is combined in order to perform fundamental and applied research in the area of biomedical image sciences. The objectives of the graduate school are:1. formulation and execution of a coherent research program in biomedical image sciences; 2. offering an advanced education program for Ph.D. students in this area; 3. training of Ph.D. students to become indepedent researchers; 4. acquisition of research funds; 5. extension of the national and international research position by collaboration with related academic and industrial institutions; 6. transfer of knowledge to technical and clinical partners. The research program of the graduate school has two main lines:A. Computational imaging, comprising fundamental and applied research on imaging systems, integration of multi-modal images, imageprocessing and analysis, physiological modeling, simulation, visualization, and image guided therapy; B. Clinical imaging, comprising functional-anatomical studies, physiologic and diagnostic imaging, image guided interventions, minimal invasive surgery, and clinical evaluation studies, with a focus on (cerebro)vascular diseases and oncology.
