The principal objective of Euricur is to stimulate fundamental international comparative research into matters that are of economical interest to cities and their surroundings. To that end, Euricur coordinates, initiates and carries out studies of subjects of strategic value to urban regions today and in the future. |

Het European Institute for Comparative Urban Research, Euricur, is opgericht door de burgemeesters van Barcelona en Rotterdam, en de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Sinds de oprichting heeft Euricur haar basis in de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, waar de organisatie nauw gerelateerd aan de capaciteitsgroep Toegepaste Economie, sectie Regionale Economie & Haven- en Vervoerseconomie, hetgeen ook geldt voor de meeste Euricur-onderzoekers. |
