The Embedded Systems Institute (ESI) is a leading research institute that addresses high-tech and embedded systems design at multi-disciplinary level. It combines the knowledge and expertise of top academic minds with the innovative capabilities of the high-tech industry. ESI executes a strong exploratory and applied research programme. In the applied research programme academic parties intensely cooperate with industrial R&D departments. It comprises a large number of pre-competitive, research projects, most of them based on the 'industry-as-laboratory' approach. In addition ESI is very active in dissemination of knowledge towards industrial and societal appliers, e.g., through publications, network events, seminars & workshops, expert circles, courses and training, as well as through a dedicated post-master competence development programme for embedded system architecting and design. ESI's focus is on the development of high-tech and embedded systems as a mature scientifically-based engineering discipline. Special attention is given to the research of new methods and approaches to predict, analyze, realize and improve desirable systems characteristics, with core competencies for: - Embedded system architecting - Model-driven engineering - System-level control and adaptation - Resource planning and scheduling - System test and integration |
