Mission The Departments of Organic chemistry, Physical chemistry & Colloid science and Biochemistry supply the courses in basic chemistry at Wageningen University. The importance of Organic chemistry is clear: plants and animals are built up from organic molecules, and are used as food for humans and animals, and as feedstock in industry. The metabolic pathway in humans, animals and plants is acomplex interplay of organic chemical reactions and physical interactions. To understand clearly these reactions in living organisms at the molecular level, organic chemistry is prerequisite. The general theme of the research is 'supramolecular chemistry', specifically directed at interface processes and phenomena. This theme is worked out in four more specific research themes: Ordered Molecular Systems Active Surfaces Organized Organic Solar Cells Reaction Mechanisms
