Education and research of the Development Economics Group is directed at the pivotal role of agricultural and rural development in low-income countries. Research focuses in particular on rural households and their responses to policy incentives in situations characterized by low and uncertain incomes, and poorly functioning markets. Issues addressed include economic policy analysis, rural institutions and markets, as well as technology choice and use of natural resources.
