| Mission |
Geo-information science activities in Wageningen are being integrated to allow adequate and innovative answers to scientific and policy questions. Developments in information processing and communication technology have added to the significance of geo-information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS). The Laboratory of Geo-Information Science and Remote Sensing of Wageningen University has therefore joined forces with the Geo-informatics group of the Agricultural Research Department (DLO) in the Centre for Geo-Information (CGI). This centre collaborates with related institutes and uses its network of expert advisers to provide university-level education and research on geo-information science, with a view to supporting policy development and the design and management of rural areas. Research in geo-information science covers a wide range of subjects. Main fields of research activities:

- Spatial Data Infrastructure & Sensors
- Society, Space and Decision
- Global context & societal benefits of Earth Observation
The centre wishes to involve students in its ongoing research through thesis subjects, either in more fundamental research projects at the university or in more applied research projects at the DLO. |
