The mission of ISES is to create the necessary environment to perform and to accelerate high quality, promising and interdisciplinary research and provide a platform for training at the highest international level. In order to be successful, ISES aims to achieve the following goals: To understand the solid Earth as a dynamic system: a prerequisite for responding to the basic needs of humanity on a vulnerable Earth To advance the quantitative understanding of lithospheric and upper mantle evolution and processes as well at the controls on and feedback mechanisms of earth processes at or near the surface To create and support the best possible opportunities for capacity building of young talent and to attract the best (inter)national talents To identify areas of strength at a European level, in order to be an indispensable and attractive partner in the European Research Area To perform high quality research in key areas by integrating expertise of demonstrable excellence in the subdisciplines of geology, geophysics, geodesy and geo-technology into multidisciplinary teams |
