| Mission |
Our mission is to ensure optimal availability of our neutron and positron beams, with associated instruments and know-how, for academic research and training in the Netherlands and abroad. Industrial applications will also be welcome. The research reactor, with its 2 MW power and relatively high neutron yield, is our central facility. Its accessibility and flexibility allow for customisation according to the needs of the users. Extensive modification of the instrumentation for a specific purpose is possible in cooperation with the scientists in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. We have unique neutron instruments at our disposal. Our variable-energy positron beam is the most intense one in the world, and we have the instruments for annihilation spectrometry to go with it. All these facilities will be made available to researchers from anywhere in the world. We offer nationally accredited courses in health physics, on several levels and for various audiences, and we offer consultancies in this field. We calibrate radiation detectors and measure radiation levels on request. We produce radioisotopes for all possible applications. We offer our certified activation analysis for the accurate determination of elemental concentrations in virtually any kind of sample. |
