| Mission |
The Darwin Center is a catalyst for research in the area of Biogeosciences, at the cross road of various disciplines. The center is meant as focal point for excellent research, in which universities and research institutions join force to enhance efficiency and visibility. The enhanced visibility should lead to increased cooperation with industrial and societal partners, and exert a greater attraction to (local and foreign) excellent students. Research at the Darwin Center focuses on the question how living and non-living parts of the system Earth interact to let our planet function. Emphasis is put on the question how biogeochemical cycles, like the carbon and nitrogen cycle, influence life on Earth. Moreover it is studied how during millions of years a livable and stable planet has developed from the regulation of those cycles. |
