Abstract

This longitudinal study was initiated by the Department of Policies for the Aging, Ministry of Welfare, Health and Cultural Affairs (Direktie Ouderenbeleid, Ministerie van WVC). It focuses on trajectories of change in functioning of older persons. Four components of functioning are distinguished: physical, cognitive, emotional and social. "Trajectories" include: predictors (related to both individual and environment) interactions and consequences (quality of life, need of care, contribution to society) of changes in functioning.

Deze longitudinale studie bestudeert veranderingstrajecten in het functioneren van ouderen. Vier functioneringscomponenten worden onderscheiden: fysieke, cognitieve, emotionele en sociale. De trajecten omvatten : voorspellers (gerelateerd aan zowel individu als omgeving), interacties en gevolgen (kwaliteit van het leven, zorgbehoefte, bijdrage aan de maatschappij) van veranderingen in functioneren.
