| Within the framework of a broader research programme at the Institut für Länderkunde in Leipzig (Germany) on the development of the metropolitan periphery in six metropolitan regions in Europe, this two-year project will focus on explanatory factors for the emergence of new economic and population centres in the metropolitan periphery. The project will involve a case study of the Randstad as well as a comparative study on the possibilities for sustainable development of new economic centres in the metropolitan periphery. The project is financed through the Marie Curie Host Fellowship programme of the European Union. |
