Abstract

Purpose and scope: - to increase knowledge on imaging and outcome/ prognosis of spine fractures; - to improve surgical techniques, for instance by the application of new biomaterials and computer guided technology. Results obtained: - MRI is an important diagnostic and prognostic tool for thoracolumbar compression type fractures; - transpedicular vertebroplasty in cadavers gives a better repositioning and augmentation of a fractured vertebral body.
