| - Objectives and methods: Development of an integral system to monitor respiratory, cardiac and hemodynamic responses to exercise. A combination of respiratory gas analysis, impedance cardiography and blood pressure monitoring is used. Application of this system to visualise the cardiopulmonary interaction in healthy volunteers, patients with chronic obstructive lung disease and those with cardiac failure. - Results: The system was operationalised in healthy volunteers. The influence of age and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on exercise capacity and its hemodynamic profile are studied. |
