Abstract

Doxorubicin gradients in human breast cancer tumor islets have been discovered after intravenous injection of doxorubicin in patients. A biophysical transport model was developed using cellular doxorubicin transport parameters. In addition, microarray analysis is being developed to detect changes in gene expression in endothelial cells , and in breast cancer samples upon treatment with anticancer and/or anti-angiogenic agents. The dorsal skin fold chamber in mice has been made operational. This technique allows the measurement of blood flow, vessel density, vessel permeability and drug distribution in tumor tissue in vivo.
