| The bible plays an important role in mystical texts and prayer texts of the Christian and Jewish tradition. Generally these texts are expression of and mediation to religious growth and the encounter with God. Until now there has been little research on the way in which biblical references in those texts, seen from a methodological point of view, contribute to on the one hand the knowledge of the articulated mystical process of transformation and on the other hand the understanding of the Scripture. In order to identify and to interpret the many intertextual relations of the Jewish, medieval 'Song of Unity' in a manner that is systematical and providing insight, a model is going to be developed and put into operation. This approach and this working-method are innovative, particularly for the field of exegesis and intertextuality, for the formulation of a theory and application of spiritual hermeneutics and for the exploration and formulation of a theory of Jewish mysticism. |
