| This study will focus on how the orientations of migrant organisations in past and present, both in original and in receiving countries, have been influenced by nation-based organising principles (which may or may not be religiously mediated). Research questions: 1) To what extent has nationality, whether or not religiously mediated, been the dominant organising principle that influenced the orientation of migrant organisations to the society of their destination country, and is that still the case today? 2) What part do migrant organisations play in the integration of their members (and of the migrant group as a whole) into the destination country, in both the short and the long term? |
