Abstract

This research project (partly) serves as the laboratory for the research referred to under (1) and (3). There can be no substantiated theories without thorough practical work. Here we apply various parts of our theory and test existing solutions for workability. The key question is how ICT can help in recognising themes and motifs in literary texts. Can existing text analysis tools give a reliable impression of what a literary work is about? Is it possible to use 'semantic crawlers' in this respect? What frame of reference or ontology is required in order to establish that a subject features 'remarkably often' in a text and could therefore be thematically more important than other subjects?
