| The present project aims to test the longitudinal effects of job characteristics on employees levels levels of burnout, engagement and performance. The recently developed Job Demands-Resources model will be used as a starting point. First aim of the study is to enrich the JD-R model by testing the moderating effect of personal resources (i.e. self-esteem, self-efficacy and optimism) in the relationship between job demands and health. Secondly, we will test the hypothesis that job demands and resources can set off loss and gain spirals of job stress and motivation, respectively. By using multi-wave studies, we will test the waus in which employees can also influence job characteristics (reversed causality). The proposed research will be carried out in Greece and the Netherlands in order to examine how cultural differences may qualify our findings. |
