| The research goal has developed into the description of foresight methodology in use, in order to reflect critically on methodology informed by empirical observations in the practice of futures studies. This reflection then may serve as a solid basis on which we aim to develop some proposals and ideas for improvement. Ethnographic research among futurists (at two Dutch instutes involved in foresight) is central in the empirical inquiry. The aim is to provide detailed, so called ?thick?, descriptions of methodology in use, as to make available a re-consultable account on foresight methodology. The notions of uncertainty and risk provide the broader context for this program. |
