Abstract

The life courses of birds in desert, tropical and moderate climates differ strongly. An evolutionary explanation for this difference possibly is the probability of getting ill. In the project the immune system and the energy balance of birds in different environments and seasons will be studied.

De levenslopen van vogels in woestijn-, tropische en gematigde streken verschillen sterk. Een evolutionaire verklaring hiervoor ligt misschien in de kans om ziek te worden. Dit onderzoek bestudeert het afweersysteem en de energiebalans van vogels in verschillende omgevingen en verschillende seizoenen.
