Abstract

The excretion of proteins by Gramnegative bacteria plays an important role in pathogenesis. In this study among other things three-dimensional structure elucidation will be used to visualize in detail the action of the process that is responsible for the transport of very large proteins over the outer membrane of the bacterium.

Het uitscheiden van eiwitten door gramnegatieve bacteriën speelt een belangrijke rol bij ziekteverwekking. Dit onderzoek zal onder andere driedimensionale structuuropheldering gebruiken om in detail 'zichtbaar' te maken hoe het transportproces werkt dat verantwoordelijk is voor het transport van zeer grote eiwitten over het buitenste membraan van de bacterie.
