| The European Commission is in the process of drafting proposals towards a common European asylum system and a uniform status for those granted asylum valid in all member states. To this end, it has asked IMES, together with the Danish Refugee Council and the Migration Policy Institute in Washington, to a) conduct a survey on current rules and regulations in member states regarding the movement of refugees between member states, b) provide an inventory of first hand experiences of refugees with these rules and regulations, and c) draft a number of scenario's along which the Commission can develop proposals for the facilitation of such movements between member states. |
