Abstract

Budd-Chiari syndrome is an obstruction of the liver vessels due to thrombosis. It not treated, this disease leads to liver failure and ultimately to death. Why liver cirrhosis occurs and why specifically at this site, has not yet been elucidated. This study analyses coagulum formation in the liver and comparis this with the thrombotic leg.

Budd-Chiari Syndroom is een afsluiting van de levervaten door trombose. Onbehandeld leidt deze ziekte tot leverfalen en overlijden. Waarom levertrombose optreedt en waarom specifiek op deze plek, is nog volledig onopgehelderd. Dit onderzoek analyseert stolselvorming in de lever en vergelijkt dit met het trombosebeen.
