Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent to which the communication during nursing sessions preceding chemotherapy is attuned to elderly patients individual informational demands, emotional needs and preferences. Subsequently, based on the findings of the descriptive study, recommendations will be formulated aiming at improving tailor-made patient communication for elderly patients, related to chemotherapy. The effects of implementing these recommendations will be evaluated regarding measures of communication and outcome variables for elderly patients.
