[Scope and objectives]: A principle concern of LNV is to develop well-founded policies with respect to the preparation, negotiation and implementation of international agreements. This includes, among other aspects, solid analyses of the possible consequences for countries and regions in the South who may have other perspectives on these issues, but whose commitment is necessary for achieving and implementing such international agreements. This need applies to LNV s involvement in interdepartmental consultation on issues for which other ministries are responsible, and on policy areas in which LNV has the lead mandate. In addition, the policy area of consumer concerns, currently a largely European and Dutch issue, has received little attention on the international policy agenda. This theme is primarily related to and driven by the international policy agenda of LNV and conducts research concerning North-South aspects of policies issues that LNV deals with in international fora, and international aspects of Dutch policy, where specific DLO expertise can complement LNV s existing capacity. This theme will thus stimulate direct contacts between LNV staff and researchers. In addition, results from this policy research will be adapted for use by policymakers in the South. Although a number of activities have a longer-term nature, flexibility in the theme will be maintained to allow for the continuous fluctuations in the international agenda. Additional funds are therefore available in the yearly budget of the programme to accommodate new questions. Publications of this programme are available Here |
