Eurolimpacs: an integrated project to evaluate impacts of global change on European freshwater ecosystems
02 / 2004 - 01 / 2010
Eurolimpacs is a 20 M Integrated Project funded by the EU designed to assess the effects of future global change on Europe's freshwater ecosystems. The project is co-ordinated by the Environmental Change Research Centre, University College London and has 37 partners. The research programme is relevant to the EU Water Framework Directive and other European and international directives and protocols and supports the EU's charter on Sustainable Development. Within this project, the Landscape Ecology group at Utrecht University is involved in research on: 1. Effects of global warming on eutrophication of wetlands 2. Effects of global change on the connectivity of wetland habitats in river catchments (connectivity for water flows and dispersal of organisms).
