Abstract

Cells take up food that is digested in the mini-stomachs of the cell, the lysosomes. Lysosomes also play an important rol in divergent processes like blood coagulation, pigmentation and the immune system. Numerous diseases are caused by disfunctioning chromosomes. This research will provide insight into the formation of lysosomes in healthy and diseased cells.

Cellen nemen voedsel op dat verteerd wordt in de mini-maagjes van de cel, de lysosomen. Lysosomen spelen ook een belangrijke rol bij uiteenlopende processen als bloedstolling, pigmentatie en het afweersysteem. Talrijke ziekten worden veroorzaakt doordat de lysosomen niet goed werken. Dit onderzoek zal inzicht geven in de vorming van lysosomen in gezonde en zieke cellen.
