Interests of the PhD student are on the topic of human visual memory and visual recognition. By a better understanding of human image recognition, computer image recognition can be improved.
For recognition of an image the image has to be compared to the mental representation of a previously seen image. To understand human recognition we have to know what aspects of an image are stored in the mental representation. We have to know what people see, encode and remember. |
