| The GLANCE programme aims at stimulating fundamental research in large-scale parallel and distributed systems. The recent rapid developments in the hardware sector (processors, networks, disks) has resulted in parallel and distributed systems with an unprecedented size. Examples are IBM's BlueGene with up to 64,000 web nodes to which millions of computers are connected. Research in GLANCE will cover the following three themes: - Management and analysis; - Data acquisition and processing; - Autonomous configuration, composition and coordination. |
