| Decision in production and inventory control are strongly interrelated. Modern ERP systems integrate both types of decisions, but they use a static view of the system structure. Practice shows that such a view is not appropriate for establishing effective control. For example, the famous bullwhip effect cannot easily be avoided if the simple methods in modern ERP systems are used. Our work aims at developing improved models and methods for production and inventory control that take the dynamic behaviour of demand processes and decision units (planners) into account. |
