Marine & Coastal Systems at WL / Delft Hydraulics covers a range from marine and coastal zone management to marine and coastal infrastructure. Areas of expertise include hydrodynamics, hydraulic structures, morphology and environmental processes. Marine and coastal engineering focuses on harbour design, coastal and offshore engineering, including water intake and outlet systems for power and desalination plants. Both research and specialised consultancy projects are carried out for port and coastal authorities, plant operators, oil and gas companies, engineering firms and contractors. All stages of the project life cycle are covered from (pre)feasibility and conceptual design to detailed design and operational aspects. In the field of marine and coastal zone management, multi-disciplinary research and development is conducted as it relates to the management of estuaries, seas and coastal areas. Special attention is focused on environmental action planning, feasibility studies, environmental impact assessment, fact-finding missions, and specialised technical assistance. |
