The aim of the research is to analyse economic environments in which firms compete dynamically. In particular, problems related to the network economy are being focused on. Definite problems to be analyzed within the framework of the project include: the possibilities for new entrants, the consequences network externalities have for industrial policies and the effects of intellectual property rights on innovation. The approach that will be enhanced starts with properly modeling the environments in which conflicts take place. Since analytically solving models coming from dynamic problems, for instance a stochastic game, is often not possible, resort to numerical methods is needed. Therefore, the next step in the analysis is the development of algorithms that are able to compute a solution, for instance an equilibrium, of the model of interest, when an analytical approach seems indeed not to be possible. Finally, the solution found has to be translated into the context of the original problem. This way, new economic implications and insights to the original problem may be found.
