| The research project will investigate the responses to a set of food scares in the late 20th century. In particular it will examine changes in policy making practices and scientific expertise, and the empowerment of 'civic stakeholders' along the food chain. Furthermore, the project looks at the formal and informal strategies employed by various groups and whether these have facilitated the evolution of a transnational food safety policy discourse. The project will focus on four 'regulatory nodes' in Western Europe: Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the European Commission. |
