Abstract

The department of Oncological Gynaecology participates, in collaboration with the departments of Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy, in various (multicentered) clinical trials and EORTC trials with respect to ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, and endometrial cancer. In addition, a clinical study in patients with high risk ovarian cancer is performed in the AVL/NKI. Translational Research In collaboration with the department of Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Pathology, and Medical Oncology protein profiles of ovarian cancer are studied using mass spectrometry techniques. (aio: W. Wegdam) Gene expression profiling of cervival cancer is studied in collaboration with the departments of Neurogenetics, Bioinformatics, Biostastistics, Pathology, and Radiotherapy. This project was supported by the KWF as a research year for gynaecologist in training Petra Biewenga. Gene expression profiling of ovarian cancer. The deparment of Oncological Gynaecology AMC/AVL, in collaboration with the departments of Pathology of the AVL, and the NKI, has performed a microarray study in ovarian cancer patients. High-throughput screening by tissue arrays has been used for a panel of markers in vulvar cancer, and in addition, endometrial cancer is studied.
