| This exploratory study focuses on the work of pastors (lay-people and professionals) in the context of the Ikon, a broadcasting station, that is connected to the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. The empirical material consists of the registration, description and evaluation of all telephone conversations during several periods in 2004-05. Who are these callers? What are the reasons for them to make contact with the pastors of the Ikon and seek help? What are the triggers and what is the content of these conversations? Are the issues implicit or explicit religious? And how are the pastors reacting? How do they understand and assess the spiritual dimension of these conversations? A practical theological analysis will help to evaluate and improve the given praxis. |
