| It will be of increasing importance to recycle heavy metals. These metals cannot only be found in wastewater of the mining and metal industry but also in their process water. Biological sulfate reduction of these wastewaters is an attractive option as the produced H2S reacts with the metals and forms metal sulfides. These precipitate and thus enable the re-use of these metals. Sulfate reduction at different pH values gives the opportunity to recover several metals selectively instead of mixtures. This will increase the metal re-use potential significantly. |
