The agricultural sector is internationalising. As a result, the places in which knowledge is developed and applied are becoming more widely separated. With intelligent knowledge management this need not be a problem. This scientific project is a comparative case study into how businesses deal with the development and management of knowledge obtained from international agrifood networks. Researchers study key processes, management tools and best practices. [Ten cases compared]: This is the first study concerned with the international agricultural sector. In the virtual absence of any theory to speak of the researchers compared ten cases - five agri-enterprises and five businesses from other sectors - in order to highlight differences in knowledge management within the agricultural sector and between agriculture and the other sectors. The end product is a framework for knowledge management. This in turn provides a base for follow-up research, where possible facilitated by Transforum. Businesses are able to apply information from the best practices to their own day-to-day practice for optimal sustainability performance. |
