| Spiral computed tomography coronary angiography (MSCTA) has rapidly emerged thanks to technical improvements as a sensitive diagnostic modality. The PhD of Carlos Van Mieghem deals with possible clinical applications of MSCTA within the discipline of interventional cardiology, regarding (i) the role of MSCTA in the evaluation of the vulnerable patient: The IBIS project; (ii) the evaluation and characterization of coronary plaques: Comparison with IVUS, the current gold standard; (iii), the role of MSCTA in the follow-up of patients after PCI (left main stenting); (iv) MSCTA instead of or as a complementary technique to conventional coronary angiography in the work-up of specific patients with proven or suspected coronary artery disease. |
