[Description problem/question]: European legislation demands organic feed to be composed of 100% organic basic feedstuff in the near future. This may result is some problems in feeding laying hens, e.g. a shortage of Methionine may occur. Results of different feeding strategies may be influenced by type of hen. The latter also has an influence on feather pecking problems. [Objectives]: insight in feeding strategies that make it possible to feed 100% organic feed on organic laying hens insight in the possibilities to formulate feed with a lower percentage Methionine in feed for laying hens with free range. insight in the way different type of hens perform in housing systems with free range. insight in the interaction between feeding strategy and type of hen and thus in the possibilities for a wide application of the feeding strategies.
