Abstract

A diet supplies the animal with specific nutrients and fills the gastrointestinal tract. The physiological state of an animal is affected depending on nutrient composition, rate and site of digestion. The dog's physiological state may influence its behavioural response e.g. during stress. This project will evaluate dietary strategies (fermentable carbohydrates and dietary tryptophan) which may affect behavioural responses under stressful conditions and decrease problem behaviour under household conditions
