Abstract

The study demonstrated that village chicken production system and sheep fattening can be included in a management system in which: feed resources from the fattening can be the scavening feedstuffs in village chicken feeding. Some feeding strategies may help to improve village chicken feeding as the supplementation with local feedstuffs (sorghum grain, local beeer by-product). The modern chicken feed may be valorized in village chicken feed. However, it should be used as a supplement of the scavening feedstuffs instead of complete diet in confinement conditions.
