| This project aims to develop and test methods for using routinely registered information in electronic patient records (EPRs) for improving risk management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Automated methods and procedures to extract relevant information regarding process and outcome measures for the quality of diabetes care are developed and evaluated in the primary care setting. Current cardiovascular management in primary care patients with type 2 diabetes is assessed, and the contribution of various information cues to start or intensify treatment is determined. The format to present risk information to both clinicians and patients is evaluated, and used to develop an intervention strategy to improve cardiovascular management. The effects of the intervention strategy are tested in a randomised controlled trial. |
